We have places to stay all along the coast including Oceano rentals, Arroyo Grande rentals, and Grover Beach rental homes.

We’ve picked out five beach cities along California’s central coastline that are renowned for their year-round tourist attractions and locations.

Pismo Beach

There are countless cool things to do in Pismo Beach. You might have trouble leaving the comfort of your cozy Pismo Beach vacation rentals, but it is worth getting out and about. If you have your dog with you, head on over to Dinosaur Caves Park on the corner of Shell Beach Road and Cliff Street. It’s a great place for your pooch to roam, and you can get some stunning photos here. You might even capture a whale, sea otter, or group of dolphins as they swim by.

Make sure you stop to Pismo Beach Pier. This 1,200-foot pier is the perfect spot for fishing, but taking a leisurely afternoon stroll down it also has its delights. It is super close to the city’s shopping center, so be sure to bring your spending money, as there are a ton of cool shops around town.

When you get hungry, Pismo Beach has a lot of dining options, ranging from the famous pies at Marie Callender’s Restaurant to the amazing clam chowder served at Splash Café. Afterward, consider going to the Thomas Kinkade gallery or the Seaside Gallery and browsing the masterpieces they house.

Shell Beach

Shell Beach might not come up easily on Google Maps, but it exists and is worth making a stop to. It has nine individual beaches tucked underneath its stunning cliffs. These cute little scenic coves have tide pools that become exposed when there’s low tide. This is the perfect time to see them.

This is predominantly a residential neighborhood, but you will find some magnificent rentals, resorts, and hotels in the area. They tend to be a bit quieter than the inner Pismo Beach rentals, although those are closer to a lot of main attractions.

Oceano

Oceano is a neat little area dominated by Oceano Beach and the Oceano Campground at Pismo State Beach. Nestled behind the flat sandy beach are massive dunes covered in trees, grass, bushes, and flowers. There are trails to wander around on, stemming from the campground to the beach, as well as the hiking trail that encircles the beautiful Oceano Lagoon.

Just shy of Pier Avenue to the south is the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreational Area, so bring your ORV or ATV and ride out for some thrills!

Grover Beach

Grover Beach was founded in August of 1887 and changed its name from Grover City to Grover Beach in 1992. This beach town has a lot of affordable real estate on the market and is becoming more popular. The Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Park is ideal for those who love to camp and ride dune buggies.

Golfers will enjoy the nine-hole executive Pismo Beach Golf Course which is positioned right next to the ocean. After a day on the course, hit up the Station Grill for a mouthwatering sandwich or burger.

Blooming purple flowers overlooking Arroyo Grande

Arroyo Grande

Arroyo Grande is a small city whose earliest inhabitants were the Chumash tribe. In 1862, Arroyo Grande was made into a township, and the city was incorporated in 1911. Since then, it has grown but is still known for its dynamic ecosystem, including the Arroyo Grande Creek. Cool fact – actor Zac Efron is from Arroyo Grande!

Aside from that this welcoming city is known for its local wineries as well as its farmer’s market. And, of course, you’ll have to check out Mustang Waterpark. The 38-foot plummet down the Awesome Stampede on an inner tube then back up another 38 feet to the top is nothing short of adrenaline-pumping. Also, there are two massive 600-foot waterslides that overlook Lopez Lake up top and take you all the way down to the pools. And, of course, there is a kiddie pool for those ages 9 and under.
